Abstract

Sexual violence remains a serious threat within educational environments, including Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the influence of interpersonal communication among peers on students’ attitudes toward the prevention of sexual violence. The interpersonal communication variable is measured through indicators of openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality, while the attitude variable is assessed through cognitive, affective, and conative components. The findings indicate that, in general, the quality of interpersonal communication and students’ attitudes are categorized as good to very good. However, variations in students’ responses are still observed, particularly in terms of communication comfort and active involvement in prevention efforts. This suggests that the internalization of preventive attitudes has not yet been fully optimized within the boarding school environment. These findings are crucial for the development of targeted prevention programs in Islamic boarding schools, highlighting the need to foster open and supportive communication among students while further enhancing their awareness and engagement in preventing sexual violence. It is recommended that educational stakeholders focus on enhancing peer communication and positive reinforcement to build a more proactive and preventive environment for sexual violence prevention.
