Abstract

The advancement of digital-based learning has encouraged higher education institutions to optimize the use of online platforms, one of which is SIMAK. However, the level of student acceptance of the system still needs to be examined to ensure its effectiveness in supporting the learning process. This study aims to evaluate the acceptance of the Academic Information System (SIMAK) among students of the Faculty of Communication and Information at Universitas Garut by employing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). An explanatory quantitative approach was applied using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS, involving 91 respondents. The results indicate that Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) significantly influences Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Attitude Toward Using (ATU). PU is found to significantly affect ATU as well as Behavioral Intention to Use (BIU). Furthermore, BIU significantly influences Actual System Use (AU), with the highest path coefficient of 0.744. The highest R² value is observed in the ATU construct at 0.717. Overall, the findings confirm that TAM is effective in explaining students’ acceptance of SIMAK in this study.
