Teknologi Komunikasi dalam Meningkatkan Akses Informasi di Era Digital

The development of communication technology in the digital era has transformed the paradigm of information dissemination and absorption globally. The speed and ease of access to information have become crucial factors in promoting the democratization of information, yet they also pose new challenges related to the digital divide and information literacy. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of communication technology in improving information accessibility in society and to identify the obstacles faced in its utilization in the digital era. This study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method (library research). Data were gathered from various scientific literatures, reputable journals, and official reports related to the development of information and communication technology (ICT) over the past five years. The data analysis was conducted thematically to map the patterns of technological contributions and barriers to information access. The results indicate that the integration of modern communication technologies, such as broadband internet, smartphones, and cloud-based platforms, has significantly reduced geographical and time barriers in disseminating information. This technology has successfully enhanced the inclusiveness of information access across various sectors, including education, economy, and public services. However, the effectiveness of this increased access is still hindered by uneven infrastructure in remote areas and low digital literacy levels among certain community groups, which triggers vulnerability to disinformation. Communication technology plays a vital role as a catalyst in expanding information access in the digital era. To optimize this potential, synergistic policies between the government and the private sector are required to equalize digital infrastructure, accompanied by sustainable digital literacy education programs.
