Pengembangan Media Edukasi Augmented Reality Motif Kain Tenun Rangrang Nusa Penida

Rangrang woven fabric is a distinctive cultural heritage of Nusa Penida, Bali, that embodies high aesthetic and philosophical values reflected in each of its motifs. However, the interest and understanding of the younger generation toward this fabric have declined due to the lack of educational and promotional media that are engaging and relevant to technological advancements. This situation is feared to threaten the sustainability of local cultural heritage preservation amid modernization. This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based educational media called ARangrang, which features six main motifs of the Rangrang woven fabric along with their philosophical meanings, and to identify user responses in understanding the cultural values contained within. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model, consisting of six stages: concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The application was developed using Unity 3D and Blender as the primary tools. The blackbox testing results show that all features of the ARangrang application function properly and meet 100% of the functionality criteria. The validity tests conducted by content and media experts obtained a coefficient of 1.00, categorized as “Very High” and qualified as “Very Valid,” indicating that the product is suitable for “use without revision”. User response testing involving 50 respondents also produced very positive results, where the application was rated as efficient, engaging, easy to use, and effective in helping users understand the meanings and philosophies of the Rangrang woven fabric.
