Perancangan Desain Karakter untuk Buku Cerita Interaktif Anak Usia 8–10 Tahun Tentang Konservasi Sirip Hiu

Shark finning remains a serious threat to shark conservation and the balance of marine ecosystems in Indonesia. The low level of public awareness, particularly among elementary school children, is a significant factor that highlights the need for educational media tailored to their characteristics. This study aims to design characters for an interactive illustrated book as a visual literacy medium to introduce shark conservation to children aged 8–10. The method used is a visual communication design approach, including literature review, observation, interviews with the Samudra Bakti community, and questionnaires distributed to children. The result is an interactive illustrated book featuring communicative characters, engaging visuals, and interactive elements that support the learning process. This media is expected to effectively convey shark conservation messages and increase children’s interest in environmental issues
